Introduction to Technical Analysis
This is a preparatory program that helps students prepare for the CMT Level 1 certification examination offered by the CMT Association.
The CMT credential is the preeminent global designation for practitioners of technical analysis and the skills learnt can have applications in wide ranging areas such as trading, portfolio management, investment analysis, quant trading and risk management.

The program is broken down into six modules, each covering a specific portion of the syllabus. This complements the official CMT curriculum and includes access to slides, study material and a question bank.
Modules
Theory of Technical Analysis
This 1 day course covers the historical developments of Technical Analysis, introduction to basic theories and charts
Analysis of Charts, Patterns and Trends
This 2 day course covers the basics of trends, patterns, volume analysis and the concepts of breakouts, stops, retracements and confirmation. It also introduces the methods of point and figure charting
Advanced Charting and Trends
This 2 day course builds on the basic knowledge of charting and covers the wave principle, Elliott Waves, measurement of market strength and cycle theory.
Markets and Volatility
This 2 day course introduces the different asset class markets viz. Equities, Fixed Income, Futures, Exchange Traded Products, FX, Options and basics of volatility and the calculation of VIX
Behavioral Finance
This 1 day course looks at the behavioral finance and the theories of market dynamics. It looks at sentiment, sentiment measures and noise trading.
Statistics and Technical Trading Systems
This 1 day course covers basic statistics and probability concepts that are important for trading. It also introduces the principles that are essential to consider while building technical trading systems

Program Delivery and Assessment
The program will be delivered in a hybrid mode, comprising self study, online and face-to-face lessons
The students will have to complete regular assignments and one final assessment at the end of each module. These assessments would prepare the candidates for taking the CMT Level 1 examination.

Exam Information
The CMT Level I Exam focuses on the basic knowledge of the terminology and analytical tools used in technical analysis. The exam is two hours long, and consists of 132 multiple-choice questions.

As of January 2019, the CMT Association has discontinued its membership requirement for CMT exam candidates. You may still choose to become an affiliate member before enrolling in the CMT Program, but it is no longer required. However, member pricing for the exams differs from nonmember pricing.
